In a world of ubiquitous computing and mobile technologies, educators are searching for ways to effectively infuse technology into daily instruction to engage students and increase achievement. HOWARDedu’s Professional Learning Solution - Fusion has been created with the goal of working with and empowering educators to harness the use of these technology so that they can foster a classroom environment that engages and ignites learning. Our coaches partner with school personnel to provide customized professional learning that infuses technology with the current curriculum and standards to engage students.

Fusion

Step 1: Modeling

Teachers and students are engaged in a model lesson that incorporates available technology into existing curricula. Teachers ‘see’ how technology becomes part of every day instruction.

Step 2: Debrief

Teachers focus on discussing the model lesson and the strategies and technology used.

Step 3: Lesson Planning

Teachers work to develop technology infused instruction, working with our coach to develop instructional units to deliver to students. During this critical phase, teachers understand the hows and whys of technology infusion.

Step 4: Co-Teaching

Coaches teach with and observe teachers using infusing technology instruction into delivery of curricula.

Step 5: Mentoring

Coaches provide feedback on various components of instruction including, but not limited to: instructional design, delivery, content, standards and technology infusion.

Implementation Planning

With BYOD and 1:1 initiatives, school administrators and IT leaders are tasked with implementing and managing multiple devices, network configurations, policies and procedures. Howard’s Fusion provides Implementation Planning and On-Site Readiness Assessments that include policy revisions based on research and best practices.

Professional Learning

Effective professional development helping teachers with skills and strategies for classroom instruction empowers educators to create meaningful learning opportunities. Fusion coaches work with classroom teachers and administrators in small groups and one-on-one to provide strategies to increase achievement.

Content and Tech Infusion

The key to infusing technology isn’t the technology, it’s the content and curriculum. More importantly it’s when to use the appropriate technology with the content. Fusion coaches review content and standards with teachers to ensure that educators understand the content and alignment of standards to instructional strategies that connect technology based on identified curricular weaknesses and student needs.
