The X690 can handle a range of high-bandwidth applications, including high-density 10 Gb top-of-rack aggregation, as well as spine/leaf deployments as an edge leaf switch.
ExtremeXOS intelligent L2/L3 switching
The ExtremeSwitching X690 family supports sophisticated, intelligent Layer 2 switching, as well as Layer 3 IPv4/IPv6 routing, including policy-based switching and routing. The X690 simplifies network operation with the ExtremeXOS modular operating system, which is used across a wide range of ExtremeSwitching networking products.
ExtremeFabric
The X870 supports ExtremeFabric, a Layer 3-based Ethernet solution from Extreme Networks, that simplifies both campus and data center networks. ExtremeFabric can automate the interconnection of multiple Extreme switches and enable them to operate as a single logical, resilient "fabric". Once formed, the ExtremeFabric provides any-to-any connectivity, high-availability and transparent access to edge devices connecting to the ExtremeFabric.
High-performance 400 Gb stacking
The X690 supports SummitStack-V400 400 Gbps high-speed stacking using 2 100 Gb ports. Up to 8 x 690 systems can be stacked using SummitStack-V400. Any of the supported 100 Gb QSFP28 direct attach cables and optical transceivers can be used for the stacking links.
